Supplements for Anti Aging

In order to fight the diseases and problems of aging, there are some supplements you should be taking to help you remain healthy and feel your best. What follows is a list of the prerequisite natural supplement list for optimal health.


To begin with, you should limit your daily caloric intake. This includes eliminating carbohydrates and sugar products. Complex carbohydrates are good, but empty carbs like white breads, starches and bad fats should be totally eliminated from your diet. Studies have shown that societies with low caloric daily intake are the fittest and the healthiest.

Green Tea Extract:

Green Tea and Green Tea extract has been widely studied for several decades and have many health benefits. Green tea contains powerful antioxidants known as polyphenols (catechins such as Epigallocatechin gallate (EGCG) and flavonols which protect your body from the damage of free radicals. Green tea is more powerful than broccoli, carrots, spinach, strawberries and Vitamin C.

Aspirin:

Heart attack and strokes are one of the most common causes of death in the western world. A heart attack is caused by a blocked blood vessel in the heart. A stroke is caused by s caused by blockage of a blood vessel; or internal bleeding. The benefits of taking a low dose aspirin on a daily basis is that aspirin reduces the clumping action of platelets — possibly preventing both strokes and heart attacks. Daily aspirin therapy affects men and women differently. Check with your doctor to find out if aspirin therapy would benefit you.

Coenzyme Q10:

Coenzyme Q10 is essential for good health as you age because levels of Coenzyme Q10 decline as you from the age of 30. Coenzyme Q10 assists with mitochondrial cell function. It also helps with the oxidation of sugars and fats into cellular energy. Research has been done which has proven that Coenzyme Q10 is vital for our health as we age.

The B Complex Vitamins: Vitamin B6 and B12 and Folic Acid:

Again, as we all know cardiovascular disease is the number 1 killer among women and men, and can be caused by high levels of homocystein (plasma) in the blood. It is believed that B complex vitamins - B6 and B12 help decrease levels of homocystein in the blood.

Supplement with Natural Hormones:

Progesterone and Estrogen

Men and women should both be supplementing with progesterone as they grow older and the levels of progesterone decline in the body. Both estrogen and progesterone are important for building and maintaining bone density – osteoporosis – which is a condition that affects both men and women. Bioidentical estrogen has been shown to improve memory related problems associated with aging.

Testosterone:

Not only is this hormone useful for restoring the libido in men and women as they age, but it is an important hormone for maintaining bone density, muscle mass and muscle strength. Supplement testosterone only with natural bioidentical hormones.

DHEA:

DHEA dehydroepiandrosteron is available by prescription. This adrenal hormone is used for building up muscle strength, managing depression and increasing energy levels. It is the precursor to the hormones estrogen and testosterone and is believed to have anti-aging effects.

Melatonin:

Melatonin is known as the hormone of sleep. As one ages, levels of melatonin fall dramatically which is why older people have problems getting to sleep and/or remaining asleep. Much research has been done on melatonin and it has been found to work and is also safe to supplement with. For this reason, it is easily available as an over-the-counter hormone in your health store or pharmacy.

Pregnenolone:

Pregnenolone is the precursor hormone to estrogen, testosterone and DHEA. Pregnenolone has also been found to have a positive effect on memory levels which decline after the age of 30.

Choline:

Choline is an organic supplement found to assist with memory. The National Academy believes that adults should supplement with 425 to 550 milligrams daily to assist with declining memory levels.

Fish Oil:

Omega-3 fatty acids have been heavily researched and found to reduce heart disease deaths such as coronary heart disease and blood vessel problems such as blood flow in the arteries.

Lipoic Acid:

Lipoic acid is a powerful antioxidant that fights free radicals in the body at mitochondrial level. Free radicals are believed to have a role in aging and scientists believe that supplements that inhibit free radicals will slow down the aging process. Lipoic acid is also believed to regenerate Vitamin E after it has detoxified free radicals. In addition, Lipoic acid reduces gylcation damage from excess glucose in the blood.

Vitamin D is essential for the efficient utilization of calcium by the body and inhibits cell proliferation and is believed to help prevent cancer. It boosts immunity and plays a role in insulin secretion. More research is needed to determine its role as far as diabetes is concerned. It can help with blood pressure regulation. It helps with osteoporosis and must be taken along with calcium to assist with calcium absorption. Research has shown that people who take vitamin D supplements have a lowered incidence of colon and colorectal cancers.

Hyaluronic acid is a glucosamine found in every tissue of the body that attaches to collagen and elastin to form cartilage. It maintains strong cartilage and helps increase the mount of joint lubricating synovial fluid. It has been used effectively for the treatment rheumatoid and osteoarthritis. It has many functions include the delivery of nutrients to cells and carries toxins away from them. It also encourages the retainment of moisture in many other body tissues.
Vitamin C is a powerful antioxidant to counteract free radicals, which may cause heart disease and cancer. It helps product collagen in the body. It also boosts the immune system, heals the skin from bruises and cuts and keeps the gums healthy. Without Vitamin C, one would develop scurvy.
